Majesty

For a hundred years, millions of people from

all walks of life have made the trek to the

Grand Canyon to experience it's rugged beauty,

it's unadultrated splendor.  This is the first time

I've seen Buddhist Monks. If Trump has his way,

however, there will be uranium mines in the

Grand Canyon.  Who will want to visit then?

It doesn't bear thinking about...Seeing the monks was most unusual, I hope they had thermals on!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I know...
I hope so, too! They did seem to be concerned with wrapping up!
Another great shot of the canyon with snow Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you very much, Chad!

Love the main pic, Elizabeth.

Not too sure about the bottom pic, though. If these are real monks then they seem to be a bit too relaxed about their vows. One of the fascinating things about observing monks in Thailand concerns the lengths they will go to to avoid even accidental contact with Gals. Bloke monks [in saffron] and Gal monks [in white], especially, keep a lot of distance between each other.

When you and your bloke visit me in Thailand I'll be sure to find you lots of monks to observe.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, kindly, Ray!
You definitely know more than I... I'll certainly take your word for it. Would there be places where male / female contact is not so strict - as with Priests and Nuns?

Quel bel effet sur la première photo. C'est très beau.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you very much, Martine!
Ohhhh, monks in the canyon! Can you imagine spotting them along one of the trails. How wonderful. (But don't get me started on Trump.)
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It was a first for me!
OK - I won't... smile

I think you are talking of landscape sacrilege Ellie, let's hope be never gets the chance to sanction such a thing
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They're already undoing many environmental protections the Obama administration had put in place. They want to do away with the Environmental Protection Agency. The Republicans are already hard at work.

I have Googled this, Elizabeth. I see the plan could be to truck uranium ore through Flagstaff. Is that right?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes ma'am. Pathetic.

The colours of monks' robes really complement to the snow and go well with the canyon walls. too.

I can't believe some of things that Trump is trying to do. I would imagine (and hope) that he's talking about areas outside of the national park?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Alan!!

He's a moron. Most are outside the National Park, but not all. The Republicans couldn't wait to undo the environmental protections Obama put in place.
Looking this up it seems less that it is a Trump idea than he will not prevent it. I suppose he will issue another Imperial decree to overturn Teddy Roosevelt's 1908 law protecting the area in perpetuity

This just can't be allowed to happen
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Right. Obama's administration had put in place some environmental protections the Republicans couldn't wait to dismantle. Including the Environmental Protection Agency itself!
OMG! I did not hear about the bad man's plan.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They're simply, and rapidly, dismantling environmental protections Obama had put in place.

What a thought! I do so hope this never happens.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: The fight is on!
They must have been cold with just those robes on. The trouble with Trump is that he has got where he is by being a 'hard nosed' business man and seems to think he can carry on running America in the same fashion, he will, hopefully, take a big fall one day, the sooner the better!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I would think so!

The trouble with Trump is he is a complete idiot.
such majesty Elizabeth... it is breathtaking...

never use the word Trump with such beauty...

uranium mines are the scourge of the earth...
i have known many friends who worked in such mines who died between the ages of 35 to 45 years old....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: So very true, Peter! Thank you!
Good rule to follow... smile
They are evil aren't they... I'm so sorry about your friends, Peter.

Uranium mines, really? You ask Frank what 'bonkers' means. I like this foreground part of trees in the snow.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Disgusting, isn't it. And yes, Bonkers!

Thank you, Louis!
The beauty of this scene is its own defense...
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I hope so, Larry...
