This is an outstanding macro shot of a lovely critter.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Beth! Fortunately caterpillars don't move too fast! smile

A truly hairy monster, but sweet none the less
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes - I don't believe this species is toxic... but very pretty!
Rhoooo.....magnifique !
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Isn't he!!!
The transition from caterpillar to butterfly is one of nature's best party tricks
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh I agree, whole-heartedly! One of Frank's favorite stories about his Sarah is when she was very little and an adult condescendingly asked the little brainiac "Do you know how a caterpillar becomes a butterfly". She looked at him like he was in idiot and said with appropriate attitude "They metamorphosize..." and she moved on. She's moving on still... no time for fools.
SUperb focus. I can almost feel those hairs!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Ruthie!!! I hope not - that might tickle! smile

It's a lovely one too. Nicely presented too!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks, Mary! I loved how the long hairs were back lit!
