The Grand Canyon 2 / 5

A Cloudy Day At The Canyon

My buddy, Diana, who lives in Phoenix, once asked what I'd do with my day.  I said I thought I'd go up to The Canyon.  She asked which canyon.  I said  "Umm... The  *GRAND*  Canyon....."   She laughed and said  "Oh, I just love that you say you're going to The Grand Canyon like I say I'm going to the mall !"    Me too!

Another good'un, BTW.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Why thank you! smile
Voilà la suite de ma visite dans le Grand Canyon, les différentes couleurs sont remarquable ! Vous avez une chance incroyable d'avoir ces paysages.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you so much, Magali - isn't it just an amazing place! I do feel like a very lucky girl to live in Paradise! smile

This is a great view Elizabeth, simply goes on for as far as the eye can see.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It seemingly does, Chad. Much of the west feels that way - Lots of wide open spaces - one of the reasons I love it here!

Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I feel like such a lucky girl - for a number of reasons, this being only one!

Nothing like having the Grand Canyon at the end of your road, Elizabeth! We have only got a hill! Imagine having this to try out all the settings of you cameras on!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I can't tell you how lucky I feel Lisl! Aren't we all - I'm sure your hill is lovely! smile These western landscapes do challenge my knowledge of my camera - pretty fun!
Having the Grand Canyon on your doorstep is like having a view of Everest from your bedroom window!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I rather feel that way! Lucky girl, aren't I?
I loved the canyon, felt so small as a person while seeing it
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Isn't that true! Really sort of puts things in perspective I think. I feel a part of the earth, just a little speck amongst the ancient rock formations, the tall ponderosa's.... I love it there!
It's so amazing it looks even a bit unreal...
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It even looks unreal when you're there, Diana!
Amazing,Ellie, it's like having all the Lake district in a huge hole to look down on,'cept the weather's better! It is the one thing I want to see...Apart from you of course. smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile. Yah- but then there's the water...

smile Well you lucky man.... You'll get to see both of us then!

Hhahahah!! But then you have so many canyons, too - I like Antelope Canyon. I wonder if people who live close to the Grand Canyon get fed up with the tourists?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It's true... Diana really did have a few canyons to choose from when she asked me that... but there's only one canyon we refer to when we say "The Canyon"! smile We do get fed up with tourists sometimes... what's really funny is that many GPS systems place the poor souls right at our office in Flagstaff. They are quite disappointed when we tell them they have another 75 miles to go! smile
better canyon than mall, as you well know
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: We are on the same page Juan Carlos!
Great vista, I can see for miles as the 'Who' sang, but that might have been about something else smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks John! I'll have to ask Frank... smile
I'm told by people who've been there that it is almost impossible to imagine the vastness of the canyon, you need to see it for real. BTW, I must be thick or "losing it" as I get older, but I've just caught on with the daily number under your picture.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I think it's true- the scale just can't be gotten from a photo!
You are certainly not losing it, Brian! You're one of the first to mention it!!! smile.
tunning shot, Elizabeth - I assume you have pics from the bottom of the canyon, too?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Tom! Actually no! Sadly I've never been to the bottom (I know, I know!). I'll have to find some of my pics from the lower level trails though...
It must be truly magnificent, and wonderful to have it close by.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It's beyond words, really, Sheila! I am quite lucky!
Another great image Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks so much Richard!

Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you Anne! I'm a lucky girl!
Nicely done Elizabeth ! I like it
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks so much - I'm pleased you do!
You could spend a year near this place and get a different image every minute... i like this one very much Elizabeth and i am looking forward to the next three....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: So true, Peter! It's difficult going through them each time - hard to toss any! I'm glad you like this, Peter- and I hope I don't disappoint! smile
