Come with me....

... as we climb 463 steps up to the top of the dome!  Because Brunelleschi's brilliant design was of a dome within a dome- we can climb between the two, thru dark narrow passages up to the top for an amazing view of Florence!

I am game! Let's do it!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Right on... here we go....
You had me at... .... "Come with me... as we climb 463 steps." ... ... (I would have left it there for us to guess the intrigue... but that's just me.) ... A cool shot.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Jacquelyn... I always value your opinion!
I love your framing of this passageway up to the top of the dome Elizabeth... i will come along with you... but you have to do the climbing of the 463 stepsgrin....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'll do the hefting Peter! You sit back in your office chair... smile
Strewth...463 steps. Is it OK to pause for breath on the way?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh sure... once or twice!!! Fortunately we didn't have much of a crowd going up - no one pushing us on.
the door left open does look inviting... i will be wheezing by the time am at the top though
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Nah.... leave the climbing to me!
..every stone has an story, if these walls could talk!!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It'd take forever to tell!

Wonderful atmospheric shot,I really like the lighting
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you Anne! I'm so happy you like it!
You done well to get such detail with the light you had Elizabeth only if walls could talk.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you Pedroeric! Lighting is always a problem for me - I keep thinking if ONLY I could master light!!!

Wow, this is exciting; what a fascinating building! smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It truly is Martin! I tried to imagine the Monks of 500 years ago walking these halls!

Hmmm.. I'm up for it but I may need to pause on the way up. On principle, I'll walk up the the steps on an escalator rather than just stand there and be carried up. Good for the heart! This sounds like a climb well worth doing.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I have the feeling you'd be up to the task Alan! And you are right- definitely worth doing!
This looks an old and interesting stairway.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Most interesting Martin - all the way up it was just fascinating. Walking where Priests and monks have for hundreds of years!
Sounds interesting. I ll just put some comfy shoes on and off i run with you grin
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: YAY! Happy to have you along!
This is great.
Beckoning doom or alluring aromas from above??
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Ummmmm - can't really comment on the aromas... smile
Too many steps for me and my "dicky ticker!" I will let you show me the delights of the dome instead Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: OK - happy to! smile
I'll make a few pauses then Elizabeth! The light is quite inviting!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It was a fascinating thing Richard! And I couldn't help but think of hundreds of years ago when it was just the Priest trekking this hall!
There was always too long a queue whenever I went by smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I understand! I think we made a good decision by going in November. While there were still plenty of people- tourist season officially ends October 31st.
Inviting, atmospheric lighting. Wave to me from the top, I know a nice cafe in the square below.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile OK!
