Boat Friday

Steaming Ahead into the New Year

2019 was a bit crap.

So many people I love suffered such sadness.

2020 may be better... maybe 2020 will be 20/20.

We'll have more clarity... crystal...  we'll be wiser.

Or maybe not.  Maybe it will be just another year.

But I have hope.  Hope that some things in the

world will get better...  Some people will feel better...

Some people will BE better.

Although that all may seem a bit vague - I have

some very specific ideas in my head that I

won't bore you with. But I will say that I hope

to be a better person. I hope to handle things

better, and treat people better, including myself.

And I hope you all will have a better year.

Good for you Elizabeth, trying to be positive always pays results
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks, Chris! I'm normally a very positive person... but so many situations in 2019 saw me losing positivity and happiness - it was very uncomfortable, because it's not me.
I know exactly what you mean, Elizabeth. Every day for the past month I've been repeating to myself "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." Change begins with ME.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: That's a good one, Ginnie! Thank you!

As a starter this is a wonderful picture, Elizabeth.
And then I know what you mean: " I hope to handle things better, and treat people better, including myself".
There is nothing wrong with treating yourself better and still love and take care of people around you/us....
I hope for you for a better year. Be kind to yourself!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Astrid!
I feel I need to get back to myself... Don't know how I lost me... smile

I admire your optimism and I wish that your hopes and ideas come true. You've caught fairly typical early winter weather for the Lake District smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Alan! I lost some optimism in 2019... I'll get it back!
I'm glad you like this photo - of all people, you'd know a good one of this area!
2019 ended badly with the passing of a good friend and member of our Lions club who lost his battle with stomach cancer, as my brother had only a month or so earlier.

So here's to a better 2020!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm so sorry, Bill! It was not a great year...
Yes - 2020 will be great!

For us, 2019 ended on a high note, when or 9th grandchild (a boy) was born on the 30th Dec. For the rest, 2019 had its crap and good moments, just like every other year.

As always, a bit of introspection is good. For me too - but don't wait for the change of year. May 2020 bring more good memories to you (and Frank).
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh congratulations, Louis! Hooray!
I just feel I lost some of my positivity and joy in 2019 - I allowed stressors to get under my skin. It's not really myself. I'll get myself back! Thank you, Louis!
I hope 2020 is smooth sailing ahead, my dear.

Every once in a while a year can be truly terrible but we get through it and have a new year to reset the coordinates.

This is a whole new decade. Aim true.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Care!
Yes - I have to remember that my record for getting through difficult times is 100% so far! smile
I'm very hopeful!
Happy Birthday tomorrow! XOX
First your picture which I really like Elizabeth. We lost a very good friend of our church just before Christmas, the wife of our recently retired Minister, she was a lovely lady and hadn't got a harmful bone in her body she was the very epitome of a Ministers wife. It took 11 years for Breast Cancer to take her from us, the only consolation is her husband and their two daughters were prepared for this happening. Your words sum up 2020 for us folks in the U.K., big changes are ahead, which no doubt Frank has spoken about from time to time, being Brits we will no doubt take whatever happens in our stride and we have done many times in the past.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Brian!
I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. She sounds a wonderful person.
Well - you all will have a stiff upper lip about it all - as is your nature! smile
Starting off by loving yourself is a good idea smile Lovely image!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you! Normally something I keep in mind, but seemed to lose that in 2019.
Gently steaming along........a beautiful misty scene! Best wishes for 2020 smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks so much, Martin!
And to you, as well!
here we are in 2020 Elizabeth... i like your ideas for the year...petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Amazing! A new decade! Thank you, Peter!

The delicate greens really make this image for me. Like a misty morning in Maine.
Happy New Year and may 2020 bring you good health and happiness! Keep shooting.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks so much, Bonnie! It was really beautiful!
Happy New Year to you also!!
