Flagstaff Characters

Above:   Tom rolls his own.   Can't really figure him out - he's not homeless, and he's friendly.  We'll seek out good music and he'll show up.  I think he earns his beers by cleaning up tables and collecting empty glasses.  Not really sure.

Below:  Jimmy & the Entertainers were jamming and this guy - whom I'd never seen before and haven't seen since, walks in, throws his hat down and starts dancing!  He actually had some pretty good moves for a sun burned guy with way too much clothing on for the heat, and presumably everything he owns on his back!

Anybody's guess - but I think the kid was just giving his Daddy a dental check up

Ha Ha

My first observation was that your town does not have a Mens' hair dresser, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: HA! I realized that when I posted these. But rest assured, we have our fair share of hipsters and sharp dressed men!
I'll now have to photograph some of them for you! smile

Great series of photos! I love the profile portrait of Tom as his beard radiates in the sunlight. A cute dental check by the future orthodontist. smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks, Steven! I realize now that I'm going to have to find some photos of the well groomed, well dressed guys we have in town... there are plenty... my husband being one of them!
Jolis portraits, ta ville est bien animée.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: All kinds of characters, that's for sure!
Très pittoresque série ..
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile Thanks, Claudine!

It's a good thing the world is full of characters
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh for sure - if only for us photographers! smile

Flagstaff seems to have also the flair of Glastonbury? Nice images of some real characters!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes - and all year 'round - not just at festival time! Frank always remarks at his "Flagstaff moment of the day"... anything from a man carrying a six foot tall stuffed tiger... to a group of backpacking uni cyclists! Thank you, Philine!

Colourful characters.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Indeed!!
Tom has probably discovered the secret of true happiness
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It's quite possible! The few times I've seen him dance, he's quite good... mostly he just watches the band!
you have many unique characters, human beings in your area....much like we do here in Athens, Georgia.

Still envious of your ability to post more than one photo at a time.

I will write to John to ask how I might be able to begin to do this too.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh we do, indeed!
Yes - I'm sorry my method doesn't work for you... maybe John can shed some light!
Thanks for your comments, Alan!

Great portraits and wee stories to go with them.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile We've enjoyed getting to know the locals- the band members and the spectators alike are very interesting people!
There is a poignancy to these images. How amazing to see the homeless man finding joy.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you so much, Ruthie!
Yes - I was happy to see him enjoy himself for a moment!
Someone in Arizona told me stories about the local locos and called them desert rats. Your sunburned fellow makes me think of that.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile Yes, I've heard that term!! smile Many of them somehow go from Flagstaff in the summer, to Phoenix or Tucson in the winter!
Every town seems to have its characters, you caught two of them very well here.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: You bet! Some good people watching here!
Well, after all - it is Flagstaff!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Absolutely! We welcome all! smile
