Intrepid Explorer

My Handsome Husband at Natural Bridges.

Utah's first National Monument.

Located at the junction of White Canyon and Armstrong Canyon,

which are part of the Colorado River drainage. It features the

sixth largest natural bridge in the world, carved from the white

Permian sandstone of the Cedar Mesa Formation that gives White

Canyon its name.  We visited Sipapu - the larges of the three here.

Je n'aimerais pas du tout me servir de cette échelle.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: That's ok then, Martine! You can stay on top - it's quite spectacular there too!

Good-looking bloke...he seems to photobomb a lot of your fine images these days, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I sure think so! He's in a lot of them... and was particularly useful when I needed something (someone) to add some scale to the towering rocks! smile

Terrific POV. Frank looks great!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Beth!
I sure think he does! smile
He definitely adds scale and charm to your images, Elizabeth! smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I think so! Especially the charm... smile Thanks Ginnie!

Now behind your man I see desert varnish (see.. I remember now!) I do like those ladders; I climbed some at Mesa Verde NP. I wondered if they were safe but then I thought about how that have to cope with some of your larger fellow countryman so thought it was fine smile

I can't recall which bridge I saw in Natural Bridges.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh well done, Alan!! I like the ladders very much...I feel for them having to hold up under the weight of some - but they obviously do!
Here's a thing... Frank and I are always talking about the baggage allowance on airplanes. They should have a set limit for your baggage AND you! Right? Like 280 pounds, maybe. So why should I be penalized for a bag that weighs 60 pounds when I only weigh 118 ... when the next guy might be 300 pounds withOUT his bags - and HE doesn't get penalized???? Hmmmm - we need to start a petition!

Oh.. thank you very much for my birthday wishes! I've got my holiday timings all wrong and should NOT be spending the good part of the day on our awful roads! smile I'm looking forward to seeing Frank. smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: You're very welcome - and I'm so sorry that's how you had to spend your day! Especially since Frank couldn't meet you and buy you cake! :-(

Frank looks very much at home here in this rugged landscape
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: He completely is! Right off of "Sharp Edge" in the Lakes, to "rocky cliffs" in Utah! smile

Great series of pictures and I am sure that the meet up with Alan will be very happy (with scones and clotted cream HA)
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Astrid!
Well, poor Frank... His Manchester flight was late, so he missed his train - literally... watched the doors shut as he was running for it! So got home very late Sunday night. Monday morning - got ready to go out and meet Alan - car wouldn't start! Battery flat dead! Pooooor Alan - had to do all that driving on his birthday - and didn't get a nice break in the day to sit and have coffee and cake with a friend. Tomorrow better be a nicer day for all!
Merci pour ces deux photos impressionnantes et très depaysantes pour moi
Bonne journée
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Claudine for your visit and comment! It's a land I love!
You have a wonderful day, as well!
Mr Rolfe would not object to that!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Nope! Unfortunately, he didn't get it :-( Franks car wouldn't start...
Good picture of Frank and I like the ladder.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Chad! I do too!

That looks an interesting ladder - and also a lovely picture of your fine husband smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: The ladders were created with wood they found laying around! In the style of the Native Americans.
Thank you, Anne!!
Not sure I'd fancy going up that ladder. Looks like you and I both take our 'Supermodels' with us wherever we go smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It's sturdier than it looks! Oh yes - a must!
i don't think that i would climb that ladder with much confidence Elizabeth... i love the second shot of Frank on the trail next to the cliffs...
he bought a new hatgrin

.....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They're much sturdier than they look! Thanks, Peter! He's had that hat a while, actually - he decides on it or the baseball cap depending on the weather! smile
He gets around, that guy...smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: He sure does! smile
