Refrigerator Canyon

Up we go... the second part is about a mile I guess.  The path

mostly undulates up and down, but continues to gain some

elevation without too much effort.  Toward the end of the Canyon

we find more switchbacks... a warm up for the next bit.  The bottom

image is from just above where Franks post for today (click here)  was taken.

The top picture is gorgeous, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Ray! I loved all the dome shaped mountains!
Good shots, Elizabeth, what an adventure this was.

I think "Refrigerator Canyon" is rather a misnomer but I suppose sounds better than "Slightly Less Hot Canyon" smile It is good to get some respite before the next proper climb starts.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Ha! Funny, Alan!! I have to say the temp's were perfect for me that day! Not too hot, not too cold! smile
Do they run a bus service at all?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I kept looking for an elevator to the top... but no luck... smile
But since you asked... you cannot drive through Zion Canyon, but they have a very good, frequent, electric & hybrid shuttle fleet to take you from the entrance parking lot to the several shuttle stops allowing access to the many trails.
I like this one Elizabeth. Mainly for the light on the distant mountain.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Chad! That distant mountain is the reason I took it! Great minds and all... smile
I am amazed at the quality of the trail.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Some of it was concrete - I think to try to reduce the constant, natural erosion, that the hundreds of thousands of feet would certainly speed up. The US National Park system, though, is notorious for making their natural places accessible and enjoyable.
I've got to admit it is a magnificent place to walk and see the ever changeing scenes around you.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It's very special, Brain!

i love the way that you framed the first picture through the crack in the canyon Elizabeth...
enjoying your hikes up the trail....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks, Peter!
A few more posts to come... watch this page! smile
Refrigerator Canyon is an interesting name... is it specially cold? smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Not particularly... but much, much cooler than the rest of the trails - as it doesn't get but a tiny bit of sun for a short period each day.
Wonderful scenery!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Tom!
