photoblog image Blackpool Tower...

Blackpool Tower...

                                   ... At the Grand Canyon

This paper weight was a wedding gift from

Frank's dear friend, Ann.  She deals in antiques,

and believes this be from around 1908.  She

gave it to him with the wish that he would

always keep a little bit of "home", wherever he

goes.  We've decided to take it with us on our trips,

and to send photographs of it's travels to Ann!

A fun thing to do... as I recall there was a photographer a few years back who photographed a couch all over the world...
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: We think it will be!
I didn't know... a couch????!!!
This worked well, Elizabeth, I'm sure Ann will be pleased to see the trips its been on.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Frank! It's been fun trying to find places for it, hasn't it?!

This is a wonderful thing to do and Ann will enjoy to see all these pictures. I know of somebody who had a little 'toy friend' and put him in pictures...
Great background BTW... a little bit home from home...
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: We are thinking it will be fun - for us and for Ann!
It's becoming a "thing" isn't it?!
Thank you, Astrid!

The Great Crevice even looks good as out-of-focus background, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Ray! The colors still show up, don't they!
It's a great idea, Elizabeth, and I 'spect we, too, will see it again. smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Ginnie! Yes you will! smile

A nice thing to do. Blackpool must seem a million miles away now..
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Frank does seem a little homesick right now... I'll do my best to keep him cheered up through the holidays!
Bonjour
Bonne idée ..
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Hi Claudine! Thank you!

I tried a similar thing with Mr Pig

Aye now there's a grand idea....

... Build a replica of the Blackpool Tower in the middle of the Grand Canyon. That should bring the visitors flocking in!

He,he only joking ; o). It is a lovely idea, I look forward to seeing the tower transported around the world.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile Very funny, Mike! I'm afraid Blackpool Tower would be but a tiny speck in the canyon... smile
Is Blackpool Tower still in existence?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh yes! And illuminated every night!
It also serves to remind us of the contrasts between different places Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I hope so!

Hahaha!! You could not get much greater contrast. It was lovely gesture from Frank's friend you you both and it must fun to look back over of photos to where it has been.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Ain't that the truth!
It was a very lovely gesture. She gave me a crystal smelling salts bottle, circa 1912. She said she admired ladies who travel, and that in the olden days, they would always carry smelling salts... Both items were from her private collection.
I think that is a great idea Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Brian!
it's a wonderful thought to take it on your trips to photograph it from around the world Elizabeth...
it will be like one of the roaming gnomes....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Peter! Very much so! smile
