Gone Batty!

I LOVE bats!!  Amazing creatures!!

Click Here for a Great Video

The babies are often rescued after their mothers have become

entangled in barbed wire, electrocuted on power lines, or shot

by fruit farmers who haven't put up netting.  The babies are

wrapped around towels, and then blankets are wrapped around

the babies... a binky in their mouths.  This similates holding onto,

and being swaddled by their moms.  The binky- because they

are almost constantly latched onto the nipple while young.

I agree with you, they are lovely things Elizabeth. In the UK they are protected by law
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They are here, as well Chris. The particular rescue center that I follow is in Australia - and I believe they are protected there as well. But you can't control everyone and everything...

Bats are special critters, Elizabeth.

We occasionally get one flying near the house at night, but they are at risk from the cats!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They certainly are, Ray.
Hopefully the bats stay high enough...
Wonderfully lit Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Richard!
I too like bats Elizabeth. The metal ones look fun.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They are wonderful critters!!
We have only small bats and now, not many, because of white nose disease. Agreed, they are amazing creatures.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: We have quite a variety, and fortunately they seem to be doing pretty well.
I think I prefer the sculpted one hanging in my house rather than the live one!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They're just like flying puppies! smile
rust and spider's silk... beautiful form and texture Elizabeth....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks so much, Peter!!
Well I have learned something today grin
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm so glad, Bill!
