Heaton Cooper Studio 1 / 5

It's Memorial Day in the United States of America.

Regardless of politics... One thing most of us agree on

is the love of our country, and the respect, support and

appreciation for our service men and women.  Whether

or not they agree with the mission they're sent on ....

they perform their duties with skill, heart, bravery and valor.

Hero's one and all

Joli camaïeu de couleurs, j'aime beaucoup.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Martine! Colorful art supplies!
A lovely colours assortment Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Richard! Art supplies are very photogenic!
I'd like to know more about your collage, Elizabeth!

In the meantime, you're so right about the service of our men and women, "fighting" for the country we love...and often not being taken care of when they return home. It's such a huge mixed bag!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: The Heaton Cooper Gallery features artwork from several artists all in the same family! Some really beautiful stuff! It also features an art supply store - where I found the display of chalk, pencils and paint very photogenic!

It rather irks me whenever heroism is questioned... Even if their "mission" is to sit at a desk in Alabama - they had more guts than me just to sign up...

I can walk around in an artshop for hours and see all the colours, paints, etc.
Great collage.
I agree with Ginnie on the soldiers.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Me too, Astrid! My Grandmother was an artist, and I loved going to get supplies with her!
Thank you!
And yes, thank you!

We're coming up to several 100th anniversaries from WWI at the moment, Verdun and the Battle of Jutland being just two so Memorial Day is even more significant this year. I love the colours from the visit to the Studio. I have a painting that U bought in the Studio.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Ah yes - weird isn't it...
Thank you, Alan!
Who's U?

The down-side of being in the military is you are expected to follow orders unto death, no matter how pointless they appear
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes - but the know that when they sign up.... and therein lies the bravery from day 1.
We have much to be grateful for to the generation of Americans and Canadians who came here and the many never got to return home.

It is just sad that we don't honour them by putting an end to war
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: We all do, Bill.

War will never be a thing of the past... so long as humans are in control.

I am not sure what you have depicted, but I respect your words. We Germans have a broken feeling about patriotism and heroism.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Well, these are all art supplies... chalk, ink, paint and pencils.
I'm sure you have a very different take on it all...
I thought at first that you had been to the pencil museum in Penrith Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I can see that!! smile

Art shops tend to make good pictures.

What I don't like about memorial days, are the politicians.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Agreed!!

Politicians suck, in general.
I have some of those inks on the right.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh isn't that great!!!
A nice montage, Elizabeth...I was too scared..smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Frank!!
i love a place like this, Elizabeth. what a photo opportunity in here.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I really enjoyed the photo hunting there!

Lovely colourful shot and composition.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you Anne! I'm glad it worked out - I love all the colors!
A fine quartet of images from such ordinary subjects. You are right about the armed services personnel, sadly the politicians who send them only go after it is all over for photo opportunities!!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you so much, Brian!

Politicians are that rare breed that we need and loath at the same time.
A fine combination of artist's materials
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks, Martin! So glad you think so!
i love your collage of some of the tools needed to create beautiful art Elizabeth...

Memorial Day is a very special time to honour your service men and women...
respect is a great thing....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks so much, Peter! I love all the colors!

We owe them respect at the very least, don't we?
A colorful celebration...
