Sound of Flight 5 / 5

The idea to put the howling wolf next to the Great Thinker

came after the  Grand Canyon Wolf Recovery  joined up

with the project.   I think he makes a perfect companion!

The Thinker seems to be thinking "I sure hope I don't get a bite on the bum!".
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile I imagine him contemplating the impossible light and shadows of the Canyon - as I do every time I'm there! The coyote is begging him not to start drilling for uranium there...
Yes, of course (especially since the Wolf is my animal spirit/guide!). smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh - well that's MOST excellent then!!

And yet they seem to be oblivious of each other, Elizabeth, perhaps making it even more striking
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Odd perhaps - but striking works!!
He certainly does Elizabeth. I enjoyed your series.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm glad you've enjoyed this mural, Richard!

Yes that makes sense
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It sort of does...
The difference between man and the animals Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Not much sometimes...
Like another sculpture known to me the subject the thinker is thinking about is behind them. I this case the wolf was placed as an afterthought so is ok.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes ma'am...
I felt they did an OK job of adding the wolf...

The wolf's rump is a bit low. Should have borrowed some muscle from the thinker. Never knew that one needed all those muscles to think ... smile Still it is beyond me to draw or paint like this - that is why I use a camera.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh yes - many muscles to think... smile
I agree, Louis - but I've seen painters compose really horrible photos - so perhaps one is not better or more skillful than the other. Yep - I'm going with that! smile
Well why not? I hope the thinker doesn't lean too far forward though as it is a big drop!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes - he's in for a big surprise if he loses his balance!

Oh yes! The Thinker is thinking it's a heck of a long way down to the bottom of the canyon. The wolf is calling up his friends, I think!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: And yes it would be!!
I hope the wolf is calling his friends!!! I LOVE them! smile
He reminds me of me with the cats...Is there no peace!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Ha! I can see that!
Sorry but my first impression was that of a chap meditating on the Loo, perhaps I am ready for an eye test !
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh dear... well that's just no good!
An eye test or a psych test... smile

This has been a great series Elizabeth, thank you for showing this wonderful mural
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Anne! You're very welcome!
Now this one is terrific.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm so glad you think so, Brian!
A trifle gaudy for my taste smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It is a bit...
