Sound of Flight 1 of 5

Frank leans agains the wall of the Orpheum Theatre to frame a shot...

The mural on this wall is a spectacular and ambitious project

designed by a 22 year old Flagstaff artist, Sky Black.

Covering 4,500 square feet, the mural took more than

a year to complete. The Mural Mice - R.E. Wall and

Margaret Dewar joined Sky Black to finish the mural

which was dedicated in November 2015. The community

of Flagstaff is supportive of all art forms, and the mural

was made possible by private donations as well as

generous donations by many local businesses.

I do love my community!  Good people here!

There seems to be a "thought cloud" over Frank's head, Elizabeth, and it depicts him having thoughts about unclad gals...

Great shot...I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: So long as his thoughts always lead him back to me! smile

Thank you - I hope not to disappoint!
LOL at Rays "thought cloud" Elizabeth... it's a fantastic piece of art and Frank's clothes let's him blend right in....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh that Ray...
I liked that he almost looked a piece of it! smile
Lol at Ray...Quite an amazing mural Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile He's very clever! smile
It is such a beautiful piece of art, Richard - I just had to share it with you all!
I NEVER would have known it was that huge if Frank weren't there, Elizabeth. WOW! Gotta love the free-floating hands at the piano. smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It IS! And this is just a piece of it! Isn't it wonderful!

It looks as if Frank's hands have come off his camera and have migrated to the piano, Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile Nice, Lisl!!!

This is so good and thank you for using Frank for the scale...
Did Frank dress up for the occasion or is that just a coincident wink
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I love how you research everything, Astrid! Isn't Sky Black an amazing artist? Not always my taste - but very talented!
Just a happy coincidence - we were both wearing our blue jackets that day!

Frank looks as if he is a permanent feature of the art work!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: He fits in nicely with that blue jacket! I wish he were at least a permanent feature of Flagstaff! smile

"Play it again, Sam". As you say, there are good people in Flagstaff and I have the delight of knowing one permanent resident and one soon-to-be-permanent (hopefully) resident smile Without Frank in this, I would get a very different feel to the size of this mural. I's an incredible piece of work especially with all the scrolly bits on the piano. Let's hope the local yobs with their own spray cans leave this alone.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile And hopefully you'll come visit us here one day!
Frank does fit in perfectly - and lends a great sense of scale. It's been up for years now (only finished recently though), and there's been no vandalism. Respect among "artists" perhaps.

I am a bit shocked by the cut hands - but 'good people here' - and Frank belongs now to them!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh they don't bother me... I think of magic!
And yes - Frank fits in perfectly with these good people - I loves our community as much as I do!
That is quite something E
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Isn't it amazing!!

Well, if they love art and support it, I will like them.

One tall Englishman dwarfed by a piano.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: You would be happy in this community, Louis!
Yes - for a change he felt small!
Very interesting picture Elizabeth. You should have got Frank to tuck his hands in his sleeve for the photo.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Chad! That would've been funny!
Could you not get the tourist to move?smile Gotta love Ray, a mural full of birds, hands, a piano, and he spots one nude! A good shot of this wonderful artwork, Elizabeth, I see now why I was told not to move.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh no - he adds so much to it!
Right? Ray is always on it...
Thank you, Frank!
The girl has a thing for birds in this piece. Your man in the blue jacket better return to his place at the piano.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Sky Black is such an amazing artist - and I LOVE the way he incorporated so many birds in this! I think Frank would be happy to be able to play the piano!
Now this sort of thing I don't mind on a wall, the mural not Frank, it is very good, it is day to day graffiti that I'm not keen on.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It is really a beautiful piece of art, Brian (and honestly - so is Frank!). Yes "tagging" is just disruptive I think

Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It is truly a beautiful piece of art!
Wow that is some art, I like Frank's colour coordinated outfit
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Isn't it just beautiful! Yes, Frank chose the right jacket for this outing! smile
