photoblog image Paria River Watershed

Paria River Watershed

Lees Ferry entrance into Paria Canyon.

If one is to hike the entire Canyon - even if

veering off to a side Canyon, like Buckskin Gulch,

it's apparently a good 3-5 day packing trip.

The longest route is about 31 miles.

Well worth it - but not something we're up to.

We did see three gentlemen who were

obviously finishing their days long trip

walk along the trail while we were there.

They seemed tired, but happy!

Is it very hard going, Elizabeth?
It's like a whole world out there, Elizabeth...which I do need to explore more one day!

I love the light on the back mountain. All those layers are so wonderful.

What an experience to do this walk!
5 days to go 30 miles suggests it is hard going

Again an exemplary shot, showing layering of the place.
I rather fancy this walk Elizabeth, I suppose it can be very hot though.
I like that many other parts of the world have red soil. Love the cloud layers.
excellent landscape, Elizabeth
Fairly rough terrain by the look of it!
There are no doubt many wonderful sights to see waling through the base of the canyon.

Looks like snake country to me! Very different to hiking in England. Love the sunlight on the distant mountains; I bet they are further away than they seem.
