Sunday Skies

Christmas Day 2015

We got a beautiful snow on Christmas Day.

The San Francisco Peaks were frosted with fresh powder -

the skiers and snow boarders were thrilled -

as were the owners of Snow Bowl Ski Park!

The funniest thing, was that as I was driving home from

Terry & Rosemary Vaughan's home, about 50 miles south

(and 3,500 feet lower in elevation), I encountered about

20 cars pulled off the side of the road once I'd crested

the Mogollon Rim.  Obviously, Phoenicians who'd

not seen snow before and were driving up to Flagstaff

to enjoy a little Winter Wonderland!!  They were throwing

snow balls and making snow men... it was pretty hilarious!

Oh my! This is so pretty. Sounds like the Phoenicians would do exactly what us Brits would do. We make any excuse not to go to the work because of the snow but will then drive out to the hills to play in itsmile On principle, I will get into work by hook or crook - as long as it's not icy; two years on my my leg still causes me some issues after my bike fall.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Alan!!
I do know a few snowboarders that ditched work... but you know... they're snowboarders! smile
You take care of that leg!!
A stunning Winter scene Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Richard - our mountain is so beautiful!
And wondering at the strange low numbers on their car thermometers! You can see the ski lift clearly Elizabeth...Now stop reminding me of what i'm missing! Oh, look...It's raining here...Again!!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes! Honey... honey the temperature gauge is broken... smile
Oh, My Love.... I'm sorry... :-( You'll be here next year for this lovely spectacle! Hang in there!
What a beaut. of a shot
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, kindly, Martin!
What a beautiful shot and your presentation gives it a great boost. I read an interview with a new immigrant who had never experienced show. What surprised him most was that it could hurt if you held it too long. What a novel way to think of it.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you so much, Mary!!
I love that story - we don't think about these things, having grown up with the stuff, do we?
It's not just the sky though is it, what a beautifully lit mountain range as well.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Brian! It is a beautiful mountain - and looks so lovely in it's fresh winter coat, and the sun- spotlight on it! Navajo legend holds that all life came from this mountain. As most Navajo have been converted to Christianity.... I do love it when they find a way to include their ancient beliefs with their current ones.
Those clouds seem to be threatening more!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They did bring a little more snow that night. But it's the past week here that we've gotten 30 inches! smile
Snow rising over, well, probably not cedars...
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile Ponderosa's and Pinon's, Larry! smile
