Sun Salutation

As the sun sets for the last time in 2015, may I

wish you and yours, a most blessed New Year.

Around the world, and in America, this year has

been frought with confusion, disorder, uncertainty

and pain.  Yet, as always, the irrepressible human

spirit wages on... and I am so often brought to my knees

by the beauty, generousity and bravery of our fellow

man.  I look forward to 2016 to bring calm and settling,

not only to my life, but to yours - as well as the world over.

The Echo Cliffs turn their bold face to the setting sun,

as we stop for dinner at the Marble Canyon Lodge.

You'd never know it... but between the cliffs and where

we stood for this shot - the mightly Colorado runs between.

She's cut deep into the Marble Platform, and will wind her

way westward, soon reaching the Grand Canyon.

"Are we there yet?"

Love the foreground, Elizabeth...by squinting, I can see all manner of interesting foliage.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: NOPE! smile
Yessir.... you'll find ripgut brome, cheat grass, horehound, cudweed, wire lettuce, probably some skeleton weed... and all the wonderful little critters that inhabit them! smile

A glorious view; what a place to enjoy your honeymoon. The power of the Colorado over the millennia is impressive to have cut its way through the ground.

Best wishes to you and Frank for 2016; let's hope that residency can be sorted out!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: One of our favorite area's for sure!
Thank you so much, Alan - that's our best hope!!
Wonderful with these layers Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I love seeing the history of the earth right before me! smile
This reminds me of the film, The Martian, until I look at the green stuff Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile HA!!! Could be!! There are some places in my little corner of the world where you'd swear you were on another planet... or the moon!
Happy new year Ellie.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you kindly, Michael!
I could do with some calm and settling. Thank you. Love that red soil!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes you could, my dear!!!
This has become one of our favourite places, Elizabeth, nice shot.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: And will continue to be, no doubt! Thank you, Frank!

A grandious view - the red glowing cliffs remind me of Red sea rocks - My best wishes for 2016 for you and your dear husband - I thought you have found calm and settling - it was a happy year for you both - but around the world there is much war, disorder , confusion, egoism, lack of solidarity ... SC is a really friendly, warm-hearted company I dont' want to miss daily.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I can see your association with the sea rocks!
My heart has certainly found calm and settling... to a degree I never imagined!
But it's up to the US Immigration Dept to "settle" us on the same continent! smile
I do always try to look in on SC - even if I can't comment or reply - you are so right about the "family" we have here!
What beautiful scenery to close this mixed bag of a year for the world. From both of us may you and Frank have a very happy 2016 with the hope it won't be too long before all the documents are sorted out to satisfaction.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm so glad you think so, Brian!
Thank you for your wishes and I hope they come true
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Best of everything, Bill!
Arizona is nothing if not dramatic, Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: We've got dramatic in spades, Tom!
I am privileged to have seen similar sunsets...
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Lucky man!!!
