Waiting for the signal...Good catch, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: He was on the money when they'd give it - wasn't he! Thank you Frank!

What is the harness on the doggies, Elizabeth?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They call it a "dressing".... it helps prevent chaffing and injury to the steers' heads and horns - oh and their ears!

This is a fabulous shot. I love the black hat and the ears showing that clear.
This is a 'tough-mens' world...
Love the point of focus.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you so much Astrid! He's got that look doesn't he!
Fabulous capture Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Richard!!!
Clearly taking over from those who have gone before him, Elizabeth! He has "mission" written all over him.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: No doubt, Ginnie!! He was very good at his job!

I like his serious face- surely a very responsible gate keeper.

I've never noticed the headgar worn by the steers before; I guess it is to protect again rope burns and similar? I want a hat like that!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes - and to protect the ears... Great hat isn't it!
Every sense is sharpened at this point.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Absolutely - he was very good!
He is ready and waiting. You captured the moment well Elizabeth
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Absolutely! Thank you very much, Janet!

He looks very pensive.

This looks really well in sepia Elizabeth
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Ready to go... just a slight nod of the ropers' head, and he must release the gate quickly...
A study in concentration ECB
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: He had to watch the roper's face carefully, and open the gate quickly at the slightest head nod...
he has a lot of power to keep behind that gate Elizabeth... another great portrait of a real cowboy....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes he does! And he did a great job! thank you Peter!
he's presumably getting all psyched up before it's his turn.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: He was in charge of releasing the steer... He had to watch for the headers' nod - and open the gate quickly... He did a very good job.
