Love this superior composition, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you Ray! I'm still not sure I like it that much - but thought I'd see what you all thought. Most appreciative smile
i like your little orange boat framed with the mountain bird sanctuary Elizabeth....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Peter! It came along at just the right time!
Lovely composition indeed Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Richard! It worked out OK!
Hmmmm. And no one is drying off their wings??? I think they all need to take a dip and then come back and touch wings. grin What a great place to congregate, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oddly, no - they seemed just hunkered down, collecting some sun rays! smile

Great composition here and love the spectators on top of that cliff.....and the orange boat of course. Good to be thankful all the time, makes you a happy person smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Astrid! That boat happened along at just the right time!
Yes ... gratefulness = peace = happiness

This must have been a one off day in the North East. Usually the North Sea looks black or at best grey! And a yellow boat on the blue brine, perfect.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: The fog finally lifted, and this is what it left behind! Thank you Mike!
It looks more like Bird Friday to me Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile Could start a new thingy...
Stunning blue sea
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Isn't that a color!!
We have a big rock always filled with cormorants too. The grandchildren were amazed at it. Cool how the gulls are perching on the side.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I love how they congregate! I love the way the gulls are perching also!
Well caught, young lady, that boat arrived at just the right moment!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you Frank! Yes it did - got lucky!
The common cormorant (or shag)
Lays eggs inside a paper bag,
You follow the idea, no doubt?
It's to keep the lightning out.
But what these unobservant birds
Have never thought of, is that herds
Of wandering bears might come with buns
And steal the bags to hold the crumbs.

Chroistopher Isherwood
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: That's pretty funny!

An excellent composition and I like the frankish presentation smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you Louis! I suppose I've learned a little something...
On Marsden Rock, if I'm not mistaken :-(
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I think you're correct. I remember I kept saying to Frank that I wanted to go down to the beach to take a photo of the "hole"... He kept saying "You CAN'T!" "But why" asked I? "The tide's IN!" says him smile

Looks like they are all getting on normally. I though I saw thousands on cormorants on Orkney; turned out they were shags. Amazing what you learn whistle enjoying a cram tea wink
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They appear to be! I thought cormorants ARE shags? What do I know?!
I'm sure you learn a lot while enjoying cream tea!
Not a sight you normally get to see in deepest Arizona.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: HA!!! You are SOOOO right! smile
Nice contrast. I love the birds on the rock.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you! It was such a pleasant scene!

They seem to be enjoying that nice spot in the sun
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Once the fog lifted, I imagine they were so happy to see the sun!
