Colin Hay

This Weeks Series...

On May 31, 2014

Colin Hay was touring with A Prairie Home Companion.

He asked accordianist Josh Baca to accompany him on

Land Down Under

Then he played the most lovely version of
Love Is Innocent

it nearly brought me to tears.

I can't find a video of it, but this link will take you to the show's

segment list... go down to the 10th.  It's nearly 10 minutes- first is

Land is Down Under, but if you fast forward to the 5th minute, you

will hear this beautiful song.  If you have time...

You are into this strange hillbilly oeuvre, aren't you, Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Hillbilly? I wouldn't consider Colin Hay hillbilly... but whatever he is, I guess I'm into it! - he has a very soulful voice.

Fabulous portrait of the musician. Love all the lines of the equipment standing around.
Great shot.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you Astrid... I got lucky with my position I think!

I may try this later, when I have woken up properly, Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile I understand! It's really a lovely ballad, I hope you get a chance to hear it.
I'm listening to Love is Innocent right now, Elizabeth, and understand why it nearly brought you to tears. This has been a great series. So glad you got to experience it.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Isn't it so beautiful? I've yet another song to help cry me to sleep at night! smile

Only nearly brought you to tears? wink I've have to try the song later.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Only nearly.... Just thiiiiis close! smile But since I left Frank in December, almost everything makes me cry! My friends (and myself) have gotten rather used to it!
The only Colin Hay song I know is "I just don't think I'll ever get over you" that and his stuff with Men Aat Work. I will try to have a listen to the link later.

Good picture by the way smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I do love that song also, Bill!

Thank you!

He seems to have a blonde admirer Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Isn't she lovely? She was another guest singer on the show that day, waiting to sing the next song with him
B&W makes it stronger even
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Chantal!!!
I sent Bill the song he is talking about, a song I really love. I did not know that this man was part of Men at Work.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I know that song well, Mary! Another really beautiful work!
I know his Men At Work stuff because I was in high school in the 80's... they were big!
But I actually prefer his solo stuff, and how his music has matured with him!
A well captured stage shot Elizabeth. You had a good position there
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Janet! Not usually my style of photography - but it was good fun!
I love this Elizabeth..especially with the way the lady was gazing into him
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you so much, Ronky! She was also a guest singer on the show that day, and was standing by to sing the next song with him.

Excellent picture. The expression of the lady in the background says it all.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you Louis!! I think we all were touched!
Was this taken at a Prairie Home show...?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yessir! We had quite the musical feast that day!
Captured very well here.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you Jacquelyn!
