Sunday Skies

Last Sunday, Frank and I went for a little hike

up on the west side of the San Francisco Peaks.

Our little town of Flagstaff wraps around the base of "the Peaks"

at about 7,000 ft (2,133 m), and Mt Humphreys rises to almost

13,000 ft (3,962 m).  We were hiking at around 9,200 ft (2,804 m).

The Quaking Aspens were turning and giving off a lovely display,

and interesting clouds made for a perfect day.

I know there are only so many words one can use

to describe a shot of golden leaves...  and since I'll

be throwing a weeks worth at you, please don't feel

obligated to comment on "the same old thing"...

I so appreciate your visit - feel free to just leave a smiley!

Hhaaha.. I, too, I have lots of images of aspen trees in their glorious fall colurs and although they all appeal to me, I just wonder if others would have the same interest over quite a few days of posting. I'm looking forward to my hike with you and Frank.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It's a tough balance to strike, isn't it... showing the beauty you find without boring everyone else!
I hope you'll enjoy our posts this week!

I like all skies pictures - yes, I heard of the wonderful aspen trees in the fall!
In our newspaper we read about the drought in California - is there enough rain in Flagstaff?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Me too, Philine!! The Aspens are an amazing part of the Flagstaff experience!
After much less precipitation last winter, we had a good monsoon- bringing much needed moisture... I'd be happy with more snow this winter to help out the water tables.
I will do my best to find words smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Bill - I will appreciate any effort!
Yellow and blue set one another off so well. I don't have smileys on my keyboard. I always wonder where they come from.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Aren't they wonderful!!

To get a smiley... type in a colon, a dash, and a right parentheses : - ) but without the spaces in between
Wonderful colours contrast here Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you Richard! The colors were amazing that day!
A lovely uplifting shot Elizabeth
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Nicely termed! Thank you Janet!
You certainly got a great day for the hike!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: We did, indeed Tom!

The colours of autumn against that lovely sky, my favourite season
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It was a beautiful day, Anne! I can understand Autumn being your favorite!
Good start Elizabeth, in this one, for me, the sky is the real winner.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you very much Brian! There were so many different formations that day!
