Pie and mash - the staple diet of the industrial north for decades. Liquor is the new kid on the block, though - I'm sure it used to be brown ale. "Liquor" sounds American
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: As I understand... Brian Walbey says Liquor is usually a type of Parsley Sauce.. ?
i love the description of the Red House pies and mash Elizabeth... the reflections are superb...
thanks for the catch-up comments tonight... it was great to hear from you again....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Isn't that great! Some marketing director was waxing poetic! smile
I enjoyed looking back at your photos Peter- as always!
I have a feeling they live up to their "calling card," Elizabeth. smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'll have to try them next time... smile

Great picture, I hope you tried the Pie Mash. I often want to try the local food.
I bet you had a great time here.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Astrid! We were actually walking off our meal when we passed this place - will try it again sometime though. Maybe when we're back at Christmas! I did enjoy Newcastle - very much!

The Red House looks a good place to eat, shame it's not nearer to Cleveleys.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It does - and it is! smile

I would be very happy to sit here around lunch time! Your collage gives the feeling of being behind glass for real.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It looks good, doesn't it! Thank you Louis!
reminded me of the song Red House by Jimi Hendrix. great shots, especially the top right
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I don't know that one... I'll have to look it up!
Thank you Ayush - I enjoyed taking those reflections!
Their written description has my mouth watering, Elizabeth. What a great spot to stop and enjoy an authentic & delicious meal.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Great marketing script, eh?
We'll have to try it next time!
Pie, Mash and Liquor, that takes me back to working in London with a guy who was brought up in the East End of London and he used to take us out to lunch to traditional cafes doing this, it was delicious. Apart from that reminiscence I do like your reflections especially the one including that very well known bridge. BTW the liquor is a type of Parsley Sauce usually.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm so glad I could give you a little throwback! smile And thanks for clearing up the liquor thing!
Thank you Brian!!
Did you taste the pies Elizabeth?
Well done!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: No- we actually came across it as we were walking of a meal!
Did they serve mushy peas too, Elizabeth?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I would expect - but we didn't stop in this trip!

Did you try it out?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: No - we were walking off a meal when we discovered it!
I hope the product measured up to the claims, the pie sounds out of this world.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Next time - we'll have to try it!

I love the quirky way that bridge resides right next to that building Elizabeth. Brings back memories of my visit here.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I really like Newcastle!!
After my time, must try it next time!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Keep it in mind!!
Pie and mash...a true art form
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: As I understand!!! smile
