photoblog image Stanley Park

Stanley Park

Frank took me for a stroll around Stanley Park.  A short distance from home, he and Michael & Jean Shaw meet here some Sundays during summer to listen to, and photograph bands.

The following images are from that wonderful walk, on a beautiful May day in Blackpool.

I apologize that I've had little time for ShutterChance

Just enjoying life and love and the sun and the rain...

Thanks for sticking with me!

The lion thinks it is a dog, and wants to play "fetch".
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Makes sense... Bella thinks she's a dog... smile
Nice shot, Elizabeth, as I told you, these are not the originals, they were moved to prevent them being stolen..Can you believe that ? ?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Frank! Crazy story behind them, for sure! smile
The lion likes his photo being taken I think.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: He is posing nicely, yes!

I often think of doing a series on ornamental or carved lions - they are everywhere. This is a fine one, and a fine picture of it, Elizabeth
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh you should - that would be great! Thanks so much Lisl!
I think he wants everyone to know he's King of the Mountain, so pay attention going further into this series.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: He certainly gets your attention!!
We have been treated to many of their pictures of bands E. He is a fine looking Lion
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes indeedy!

A fine-looking character. No doubt designed to deter wrong-doers from entering the park.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: He's a very good looking sculpture isn't he!

Good angle to capture this Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you Chad!
Very impressive, Elizabeth........summer days in the park: what could be better!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Martin! We love going to the park!
Back to the days of the British Empire, Elizabeth. He's a wonderful character, Kind of Aslan ish.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh yes! I see your comparison!
Stanley Park named after a brilliant footballer who had the heart of a lion.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Ya think?

Poor lion has arthritis it seems. Now you can count its ribs, because it can't catch prey. Help him to a bacon sarnie.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'll feed him.... so long as he won't eat me!
Roar! Awesome shot. I like the detail on the lion such as the curly hair on his hips.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you very much Mary! Isn't the detail great!!!
The lion is posing very nicely for you Elizabeth!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes, for once a feline that complies! smile
and the lions roar!!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Loudly!
He looks lean and mean - the lion not Frank !!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile Yes! Frank is certainly leaner since being in Flagstaff... but not a mean bone in his body!
Fantastic background of this big sculpture..
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Ronky! A beautiful sky that day!
I thought this was Trafalgar Square until I read your notes, it is a fine shot Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks very much Brian!
That's a very handsome lion!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes he is!
