Wonderful colours and decorations on this Buddha.
The quote is more difficult than you think. (Some people don't know what to do with your love, it scares them)
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Isn't he great!
It can be difficult to give love to someone who doesn't know how to receive it. But my feeling is that all are worthy, and I'm not concerned about what they do with my love, that's not my problem- it's theirs... My job is to give. smile

A LOVE filled weekend might be a bit of an aspiration for me Elizabeth but I'll do my best to stay as contemplative as our friend the Buddha here
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Nah.... NEVER! smile
Love AND contemplation = GOOD!
Love always wins, even if we never see that it does!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: And that's the point, isn't it! smile

The same wish to you and you may find some rest after the turbulent but very happy weeks!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you so much Philine!
It is our Lions charter dinner tonight, I am President and so will have to stand up and say some nice things.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: And with love in your heart.... I've not doubt you will! smile

Just like you in the morning, all calm and serene...smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Hmmmmmm.... smile
Would a work filled weekend suffice?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Well yes, as you'll have love flowing from your heart! smile
Have a Zen weekend
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you! You too!
A fine sentiment
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I think so!

To love without the inquiry, means you have to sacrifice yourself. Give up that ego. Great thought.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh no. I respectfully disagree. In fact I think the opposite. It is ego that demands the inquiry. To allow love to flow without the interruption or requirement that another be deserving means that no matter how the love is dealt with once it leaves your heart, doesn't matter to you. An honest love, which is infinite within us all, being sent from your being can never be detrimental to to ourselves. It's only when you have an expectation of what that person should do with your love, that you have sacrificed.
You must be really catching that hippie vibe smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I AM a hippie! Just born 15 years to late to enjoy the times... smile

Mmmm, I believe (respectfully smile) that we are more or less onto the same thing. The difference is in the fine tuning.

It is exactly the ego that demands to be satisfied. The typical 'What's in it for me?' argument. The ego and 'self' is the same thing. That is why one must give up (sacrifice) the self. You can also say that you have to silence the ego, because it is from the ego/self that the inquiry will emanate.

So, let's say you manage to manage the ego and Frank does the same. You will be attuned to his needs and he to yours at the same time. As you say - you will live from the hearts and not one day stop to ask questions. You will be in harmony.

It is the case of the demand "Love me!" vs the exploratory "How can I love you better?".

It takes work, to subdue 'self' and reach out to 'other'. But practice makes you lovable smile

Have I expressed myself more clearly?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: YES!!! And YES - We are saying the same thing in different ways.... I LOVE that!
What an attractive Buddha this one is. I think the words you found are very true, there are some people, that however hard one tries, you feel you cannot offer that love in a freely given way sadly.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Isn't he great?!
Well, I think I can offer all the love possible - and not concern myself with their ability to accept it. Doesn't hurt me any to to give... smile

Great colors!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Hollie! He is a colorful one!
I hope they display these images above head level, Elizabeth smile According to the Buddhist tradition, no person's head should be higher than the image of the Buddha - and, if it is, you bow down before it smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Hmmmm... I didn't know that. I recall this one being at about my eye level, which of course would be WAY below most people's head... uh-oh!
A fine thought, one that could do woth some implementation...
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Right!!! Implement away Larry! smile

A fine statue and you photographed her well
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks so much!
A late comment but in agreement with the words and have to say am in tune with Buddhist teachings and fascinated with the many images of Buddha.
(Must root out some of mine.)
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you - they are true! Yes- get them out of the closet- they will calm and focus you - set the intention! smile
