Decided to do its own thing!

What beautify images, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Certainly did! When the Aspens are young and spindly.. they buckle under the weight of heavy snow - thus they get all crooked looking. I like the crooked ones best! smile

Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks so much, Steven. I can't help myself - I want to take photo after photo of that beautiful light!

Not a common tree here. I know of only one in the wild!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: That's interesting, Lisl... that there's only one...They propagate thru the spread of their roots... so where there's one, there tends to be many - and they will all be clones of the original. The largest single living organism in the world is a stand of Aspens in Utah!

The colours of the trunks with the chrome yellow of the leaves is a fortunate combination
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes, I find it just lovely!
What a great lesson from these beauties, Elizabeth. We have so much to learn from Mother Nature!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh, indeed we do, Ginnie!
On our local NPR station... KNAU, they have Poetry Friday - and just this morning a woman read two poems she'd written about nature. One of them talks about what life will be like after humans- and it's a beautiful count of nature reclaiming the Earth. I just looked, and they've not posted it yet, but will try to check back and send the link. I think you'll like it. Here's the link if you want to look...

A glorious time of year of the aspen colours. I wonder what caused that tree to get the bends?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Isn't it just?! When they're young and spindly, they will buckle under the weight of a heavy snow.

I so love your framing and the close-up. Wonderful quits with it too, Elizabeth. We walk strong and tall!!!!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Astrid!! Yes we do!
Très belle série de photos .la lumière est vraiment propice à  ces arbres
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Claudine! Yes - a match made in Heaven!
Jolis arbres, on dirait qu'ils ont des yeux.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes!! That is how you can distinguish an Aspen from a Birch!
What a fascinating tree, I wonder how old those trees are?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It is! On average individuals live 50-60 years sometimes up to 150... but the individuals are clones that share a root system... and they believe the longest living organism is a stand of clones that are estimated to be about 8,000 years old!
They are amazing trees. I think we are all bending a bit at the moment!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes they are!
And yes, we are! smile
No we wont....Lovely pic's Ell'
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile Thank you, Frank!

Thank you, Elizabeth - I must talk to my tree guru, and check I haven't made a silly mistake on the name, but it certainly looked like an aspen
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'd be interested to know.... keep me posted!
