The Hills Are Alive...

...  With the Vision of Wildflowers

Some hills are covered in YELLOW, ORANGE and RED:

Some hills are covered in  PURPLE and BLUE:

And when all those colors come together... well... it's just a sight to behold!

I purposefully over-saturated the photo below... at high noon, the harsh Arizona sun had washed out some of the view of the wildflowers (some that are super tiny...) on this slope.  I just wanted to show that even when they're not obvious... those little plants are there, and they are thriving!   :-)

I would think that such a colourful spectacle is very transient once the heat builds through the seasons and beyond?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes, we had a scout that lives down there giving us the wildflower report in the weeks leading up to my time off from work... She helped us plan the best place to go! We timed it just right! These will burn off, and then many of them (and other species) will lie in wait for the Monsoon Rains...

Those blue lupin-like flowers are just so vivid, Elizabeth
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They are lupine! And yes - they are vivid... especially when the bright Arizona sun is at just the right angle!
This is just stunning E.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm glad you think so Bill - I was so happy!!

This looks good enough to eat.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile Oh good - many of them you probably could!
You certainly hit it at the right time of year! I recall being at Univ. NC, Chapel Hill in the springtime and everything came out at the same time!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: My planning panned out! We have a friend in the area who was scouting out the best trails in the weeks leading up to my time off from work... that definitely helped, she was not wrong!

It is a pleasure to see these hills coverd with the wildflowers!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh I was just thrilled! Thank you, Philine!
The colour combinations are interesting. There are the purples of spring and summer and the yellows of all the seasons. The yellow and orange together reminds me of autumn. What awesome combinations!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm so glad you think so, Mary - there is such a variety when the rains have been generous... as I said last week, some of these species haven't bloomed in years! They've been waiting! Thank you!
I like the variety of colors in the warm light. Beautiful images. Friendship
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you so much, Ruthie! A rare an beautiful occurrence these days... with the warming of the Earth, and the drought. XOX
Mother Nature in all her colourful glory, Elizabeth. So lovely; excellent captures.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh she was certainly showing off! Thank you, Beverly!
Who's been watching 'The Sound Of Music' then. Great set of images, even I would probably walk carefully round there.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I LOVE that musical! smile When you take your time - it's amazing what you'll find!
