People poo-poo Starbucks, and those of us who go there...  But their coffee is reliably tasty and hot.  We love going to our locally owned cafe's, but when on the road (or the airport...)  Starbucks is always a welcome sight!

I am not a fan of their product, Elizabeth, but I am a fan of your fine Images.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Well that's just fine! And I thank you!
Like finding a liferaft, always reliable smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: YEP! smile
I have mixed emotions about Starbucks, Elizabeth, after working there for 3 months, mainly because of how much SUGAR is in their posh drinks, even though they're so good...like the pumpkin-spice lattes they surely have now at this time of the year. But I must acknowledge that I worked there when I didn't know what was happening in my life (after Donica and before Astrid) and needed a company that gave health insurance immediately at day one. Not all companies do that!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Well I know they put a lot of sugar in their "desert drinks" as I call them. But Frank orders a skinny latte, and I order an almond milk latte. I have a metabolic disorder so I have to watch my sugar. We don't like foo foo drinks. They are a very good company and treat their employees well - and I appreciate that!

World famous and well known all over the world. Their logo is powerful.
However, not that I am a total health freak, for me it is very important to know "how much sugar" I consume. And of course I know I can buy coffee without sugar at Starbucks.
The amount of sugar that Starbucks serves is not healthy, we never go to Starbucks and we don't have one in the city either.

Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes indeed!
As I told Ginnie - I have a metabolic disorder so have to really be careful about sugar... and Frank doesn't have a sweet tooth. So he gets a skinny latte, and I get an almond milk latte - and it's always delicious! I know that make "desserts" that many people unwittingly (or blindly) consume. But we're not in to those!

You always know what you're going to get in Starbucks. Who in the US and arriving in the city for the evening, I'd find the nearest Starbucks to use their wifi so I can find my hotel and to use the loo. Oh, and I'd get a coffee, too! It was surprising the number of times they misspelt my name despite me going "A...L...A...N"!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: That's exactly right - reliable and available!

I have never been to Starbucks but will make the effort to try on your recommendation
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Never? Wow! You're rather an anomaly! They offer a lot of very sugary "foo foo" drinks, but Frank and I just get Latte's and their thick and yummy! You all have Costa and Cafe Nero to also choose from, which we don't. Starbucks has the market here.

For some reason, I haven't been able to enjoy the taste of their coffees
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: And that's OK - everyone has their own taste! We don't drink the "foo foo" drinks - we just get lattes... but they are to our taste. Frank doesn't like Costa or Cafe Nero - and we don't have those here anyway... smile
I like a nice English tea rooms. I avoid these sorts of chains wherever possible.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes - of course, we don't have those here! smile
WE are the same - if there's a good privately owned cafe we prefer to try it. But when there isn't, or when we're unsure... You always know what you'll get at Starbucks.. and it will be served with a smile!

A pretty picture but for me the coffee of Starbucks is the worst. I know that Americans like weak coffee compared to the European style, which I prefer. I used to like Costa but feel they have gone downhill. Cafe Nero is my choice now.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'll admit to not liking a super strong taste. A Starbucks latte is smooth, creamy and easy to drink. Frank doesn't like Costa, and there isn't a Cafe Nero near Fleetwood... and of course, we don't have them at all here in America.

I, too, had good experiences with Starbucks hot chocolate and the cake. A fine photo!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Philine! I love their lattes! Smooth and easy to drink!
Like a few other people here I've never been in a Starbucks but that doesn't mean I wouldn't do so, I'm happy to drink a coffee almost anywhere, indeed there's one in Loughborough, our nearest big town, I will give it a try, but there is such an assortment of tearooms and coffee shops it is difficult to know where to go.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: When given a choice - we do like to go to locally owned coffee shops / cafes... but when traveling or at a loss - Starbucks offers a hot, smooth, creamy latte that we like the taste of. And served with a smile!
In the US it is most reliable and popular. In Canada it is Tim Hortons.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes for sure. I've not heard of Tim Hortons!

Caffè Nero is our shop of choice - we don’t tend to go to Starbucks.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes - it seems popular there... Of course, we don't have them here. So it's Starbucks or Dutch Bro's, and we just prefer the former. They are pleasant and happy, their company takes very good care of them, and the lattes are hot, smooth and creamy. If we can find a locally owned cafe though - we always try that!
it's a great composition Elizabeth... there are plenty of Starbucks up here... but Tim Horton coffee shops have even more business.... they hve been around Canada for the past 55 years....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks, Peter!
I'd never heard of Tim Horton!
On this side of the pond we prefer Costa smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It seems some of you do - some prefer Cafe Nero. Neither of which we have here, of course. Frank actually prefers Starbucks, and doesn't like Costa's coffee. To each their own!
On this side of the pond we prefer Costa smile
All these coffee shops are over price for Luke warm milk and coffee.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Starbucks serves up pipping hot and creamy! At least consistently in the US!
Fine pi ture, but all Ican say is thatAmerican starbucks, like aall the othef ains, must make a tastier brew than they do here!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks, Graeme!
I don't know... I just know that Frank and I both really love the hot, smooth lattes Starbucks rolls out. He doesn't like Costa and doesn't have a Cafe Nero near him in Fleetwood. But I'll tell you we always prefer to try a locally owned cafe when given the choice!
amen !!!!!!!!!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks, Ryan! I do love that Starbucks latte's are consistently hot, smooth, creamy... smile
Love your image of the sign and decoration.......I don't go out of my way to visit, but I do from time to time and the coffe's good smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks Martin! This is in Heathrow airport! I head right to it when traveling from Phoenix to Manchester! smile

A colorful find when you're desperate for a cup of Jo! I still have yet to acquire a taste for coffee. I guess I'm still too young? smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes it is! I didn't really start drinking coffee until my mid to late 40's... now I really love a good brew! smile
