photoblog image Alpine Forget Me Not

Alpine Forget Me Not

(Eritrichium nanum)

Borage Family

(Boraginaceae)

A dainty yet rugged plant with so much charm and appeal it was selected as the state flower of Alaska. Thrives in open, rocky places that resemble its native alpine habitat. In the wild, Alpine Forget-me-nots establish themselves most happily in sunny, open meadows.

This photo looked more clear before I uploaded it.... but it's the better of the two that I have of this species - so I'll roll with it!  Mainly just wanted to show the brilliant color!

I would imagine that SC does some compression (but no as severe as Facebook). The colour is really bold and vibrant. Good choice of Alaska!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm guessing... oh well! The color was the important part of it! Thanks, Alan!
I love both borage and forget-me-nots but this one is special! Love the mossy bits inherited by the borage.
