This is fabulous and the top picture is a likey to me. I love those windmills and look at that horizon...
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh thank you so much, Astrid! I'm really pleased you like it so much!
THIS is the kind of windmill I grew up with in America, as you know, Elizabeth. When I find them here in the Netherlands like this, I always have to smile. smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Very different from what you see regularly... I'm surprised you ever see these there... smile

The windmills remind me of home, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm happy for that... we should always have reminders from where we've come from.

Another classic item from Hollywood's view of the southwest. Just need some gun-totin' cowboys and tumbleweed blowing down the street to complete the picture.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I imagine so! smile
I .ove the solitary windmill Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Chad!

I could swear I saw that windmill turning, Elizabeth
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm sure you did! smile
Is someone living in that shack?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh no - the blue one is a water tank, and the other is just a lean to - probably to put hay out for sheep / cattle / horses.
Makes you wonder what the windmill is powering.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: There's probably a water tank near the base of it... most of these on the Rez are to draw water up from ground reserves.
These windmills are very American E
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I always think so!
I sometimes imagine America being populated with this style of windmill everywhere but I guess it is only in certain areas.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I think they are widespread... but we have more of them in the west... they're used in many places (like this) to draw water up from underground reserves.
the classic American windmill...
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I always like that idea!
