Certainly freestone fences figure in my view of England, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes... for sure!

Very nice. I like this dark brroding landscape with the curved road leading through it.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Harry!
Jolis jeux d'ombre et de lumière. Le banc semble très accueillant.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks so much, Martine! Yes - I would have enjoyed sitting there for a while!
Oh, yes, Elizabeth. So do I. The top image especially is SO ENGLISH!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm so pleased you think so, Ginnie... as an American - you understand the eyes I'm looking through... smile

The Lake District presumably - very rugged and distinctive
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Absolutely right, Chris! smile

Aaaaahh... Borrowdale, my favourite valley. I think you're heading away from Seatoller towards Keswick. Not sure where the seat is, though, in the second image.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Borrowdale, yes... but I believe we'd just skirted around Keswick? Anyway... I don't remember where the seat is either!

Yes, this is England as I love it, too.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Philine!!
Magnifique tes photos , quel bel endroit !
Bonne journée
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you so much, Claudine! Much of the world has beautiful little pockets - we photographers get to look for them and present them!
Looks like you have also captured the much loved Semi-detached house which is very English
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes indeed, Bill!

The English Tourist Board should offer you a position. Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks so much, Chad! A very nice compliment!
Ah, a grand day out...Borrowdale and the shortcut through Keswick I believe. smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Indeed it was!! XOX
You're making me want to go back to the Lake District, especially with the top picture.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh good - get along then! smile

Those lanes are very English - beautiful.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I sure think so, too, Louis! Thank you!
Yup, there are some left!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh of course there are! smile

a nice bend in the road to lead to those mountains, Elizabeth. and i like the bright, second shot.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Isn't it a lovely drive! Thanks so much, Ayush!

Rather different from the roads you are used to smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Quite so, Anne!
The greens predominate in these shots of the lovely rolling hills. Gorgeous!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I hoped to show that it is indeed a "green and pleasant land". smile Thank you, Mary!

Beautiful photos captured here! I love the PoV along the winding road that leads our eyes to the sun-dappled hill. And to see the homes enveloped into the landscaping and hillside represents great planning. What a great place to sit a spell!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you so much, Steven! Sometimes all of this seems so haphazard as the lanes get windy-er and narrower... but when you really look - it seems great care is taken with the presentation and layout of the land. It's a wonderful place!
Painful memories of taking the wrong path off the fell and having to trudge along here back to Seatoller! Nice picture, though.
