Beautiful scenery.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It's a bit like the surface of the moon.... with trees! smile Thank you, Beth!

These are fabulous pictures, Elizabeth. And do I spot that famous wooden bridge??
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks so much, Astrid! Yes - you do! smile Good eye!
I totally forget that America has it's own volcanoes, Elizabeth. WOW.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile Oh yes.... Dormant in this area, thank goodness! The San Francisco Peaks, around which Flagstaff has grown is a long dormant volcano. All the cinder cones and lava fields are related to the big mountain - which is estimated to have been over 16,000 feet before it blew. Now it's highest edge is 12,312'. Amazing stuff.
Impressionnant ...et magnifique
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you very much, Claudine!

It's incredible how much of our world's geology is due to volcanic activity. As long as they are now extinct, that's fine for me.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It is, indeed. Yes - this has been dormant for a very long time. Yellowstone will be the first to blow in North America... I hope to be at ground zero! smile

Those snow highlights make this a really interesting picture
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Chris! The snow on the black lava is what drew me!

We could be in Italy ...
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile Aside from the snow, eh?
You are blessed with some wonderful landscapes E
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: We are, for sure, Bill. The South West is an enchanting place!

Very nice winter scene Elizabeth. I think I prefer it with a white background as the limbus makes more sense that way.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Chad - I do see what you mean...

It provides you with great patterns. It also has me thinking of some dinosaur under a blanket.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I love that! That's good!! smile
Lots of texture in these shots. Very nicely done.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Mary!
I like these two landscapes, you really do have a variety of countryside round your way.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you very much, Brian! The South West is a treasure trove for landscape lovers!
The snow is not enough, but enough to give a touch of color and contrast to the image. Here was the lava I had missed
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Claudio! I did like the "dappled" effect it gave! Makes more sense to you now, eh?! smile
Nicely captured, Elizabeth, always a nice walk.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, My Love - any walk is nice with you! XOX
