I have a quite decent potted specimen, I winter it in the front porch and you have to be very mindful of those lethal spines in such a confined area.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Nice, Martin! It must be happy! I had a very large one in my yard when I lived north of Phoenix... it started to reach into the path I had to walk into the house - so I just started clipping the spines with wire cutters! smile
we have two tiny ones in pots Elixabeth... they have good healing liquids inside that rough exterior....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: If I'm not mistaken, Peter - I think you have Aloes... very similar but not related at all! Aloes do have very healing properties!
Definitely it is a plant that lends itself and numerous interpretations, as well as many uses.
