photoblog image On the Edge

On the Edge

I'm afraid I made Frank angry by getting way too close to the edge that dropped down a good 30-40 feet into the slot.  But I just thought this was so cool, I had to photograph it!  And it always astounds me that these trees will grow out of the crevaces on the edge of a canyon.

If you think this is dangerous Ellietry living in Fleetwood, I am taking body guards with me today to see Frank.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh PULLLEEEEEASE!!!! smile
the image of the tree growing in the crevice made it worth taking the chance... Frank knows that he couln'd stop you once you have made up your mind Elizabeth...

Incredible how some species survive in crazy places. I'm talking about the tree, not Frank..
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile Understood, and agreed!

I'm always amazed as to what seems impossible conditions for anything to grow does support a tree. I've lost my head for such a position, I'm afraid. Of course, when I was your age... Both wonderful images but I'm drawn t the second one.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I am too, Alan!
I do get less and less brave the older I get...
Thank you very much, Alan!

Sur la première, je vois une tête de lion.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh my goodness, Martine! I see it now!!!
He wants you in one piece !!!

The ability of plants to thrive in the most unlikely of places is endlessly fascinating
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Well I suppose! smile
Plants are just incredible!

Aren’t trees amazing for the way they do that Elizabeth. I hope Frank has now forgiven you.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They are, Chad!!
All was forgiven about 15 minutes later, once we were both safely down on terra firma (and after a couple kisses as I recall!) smile
Sandstone formations tend to do that to a photographer.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They're just remarkable!

Yes, you are a very brave lady, and the photos are amazing. Nowadays Windows 10 shows photos of the canyon on its entrance page.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Philine!
Does it? Well that's great!
I think I would be angry also if my 'best gal', as Ray calls his lady, got that close to the edge, mind you maureen and I wouldn't have been up there in the first place I guess.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile Some have more sense...
Pic no 2 is the winner.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks, Tom - seems to be the consensus!
Remarkable shots, but that edge looks close!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Larry... I suppose it was... smile
Always incredible colors of those places and unpredictable shapes and sizes that time can forge.
