Water Sculptures

The wind was blowing a banchee the day we went for our Anniversary hike through Buckskin Gulch.  We had sand in our ears, up our noses, packed in our shoes, caked in our hair and packed in our packs...  but it was a sunny, warm, gorgeous day - and with my Love by my side... everything was just as it should be!

I am so impressed by all the shapes and colours and I think it was worth it to be 'sanded' while on this expedition.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I just love the geology of this area, Astrid! And yes - I suppose I got a free dermabrasion facial smile
For all that sand, Elizabeth, I see it did NOT wreak havoc on your camera/images! WOW.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Ginnie! Somehow our camera's came out unscathed! smile

Millions of years of what you experienced that day must have created the rock patternings
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Incredible to think!
Erosion naturelle vraiment magnifique ..j'aime beaucoup la couleur de ces pierres ..
Bonne journée à  toi
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It is, isn't it, Claudine!! The colors in the South West are always so rich! Thank you!

..and no doubt sand in your sandwiches smile The markings especially in the main image look almost man-made. The angle are fascinating; it is although the rocks have tipped at some point.

In the bottom image, I can see a Banksy-like image just right of centre.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Gritty snacks! Good roughage! smile
Isn't it just incredible what water, wind & sand can do!
It's sort of a mini-example of plate tectonics!

Well sanded. Smooching like a sandpaper meeting. But it is a beautiful place. Worth it.

You can almost sense what’re running over this rock Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'm glad you get that.... It's hard to do the place justice!
Nature at its best once again.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Certainly, in my mind!

Seeing these carvings has made my day. What is it about stone?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh I'm so happy, then!! Stone and glass, eh?! Such touchable beauty!
