Sunday Skies

Over the next several weeks, my Sunday Skies series will

feature shots from a September drive from Flagstaff to the

Grand Canyon.  Compliments of a late summer storm.

It is a friendly-looking storm, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: She didn't bring us any trouble!

Bien menaçant, la pluie n'est pas loin.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: So very true! Thank you, Martine!

The actual rainy part is very concentrated, or at least it looks that way
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Good observation, Chris! That is true - as happens a lot in these parts!

It certainly looks very threatening.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Indeed - but it was pretty concentrated, and we didn't get battered!

Something is gathering here. Considering Mr. Trump's recent actions it could be symbolic, I hope not!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Absolutely! I love watching our western storms form!
Mr. Trump is an idiot and his day of reckoning is coming.
We have a sky full of snow today!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: YAY!!!! How perfect for December! We've not had a significant amount of precipitation in 88 days. UGH!
A bit like the sky over my place today except we've got lots of the white stuff and not rain!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Snow seems perfect in December! We've not had a significant amount of precipitation (no more than .1 inch) in 88 days. This is the latest I can remember not having snow in Flagstaff. We usually get a good snowfall in late November. We've not seen a flake yet. Does not bode well for the water tables, or fire season next year :-(
Similar to yesterday on the way to Preston, my destination not being as exciting. smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile At least you had pretty skies... and an exciting day - if not an exciting place! smile
I often say you could not really paint clouds as real and this is a good example. On the lowest shelf, you would change the end to make it look less angular. We always want a happy ending.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I think I see what you mean. There are some things in nature that the brain just can't comprehend as real- I sometimes "straighten" a photo, that I know is already straight... but without being there, the onlooker would interpret it as being crooked - if you get my drift?! smile
Great sky country...
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It certainly is!
What happened to sunny Flagstaff?!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Actually - the sun WAS shining in Flagstaff which was behind us! smile
