A Sliver of Sky Fell Down

And a sliver of my photo got blown out!   Ahhh welll...

This week some photos from the Grand Canyon's South Rim.

To be followed next week by images from the North Rim.

Very different environments, and a very different experience.

Well...I feel that your blow-out adds rather than detracts on this occasion, Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Ray - you're kind to say so!

This looks like subterranean mountains rising to the surface of some great ocean
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Well, at one time it may have been close to the truth! smile

Taking pictures more or less into the sun, tend to blow the clouds. This is always a problem when I travel - you can't always choose the direction of shooting in the short space of time that you have available, when traveling. For instance the scene is to the west over the sea, while the sun is setting. If I had the time, I could come back the next day at sunrise - but it is just not doable. As solution, I sometimes crop that part out or clonestamp in some unblown clouds from another picture.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes, Louis - I know what you're saying! In retrospect I probably should have cloned it!

Never mind; it happens to us all at some point. The vista into the canyon and those foreboding clouds makes up for it.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I should have cropped it...oh well. Thank you very much, Alan!

Elizabeth I love your nature photos....

I have visited the Canyon 3 different times in my life

1. with parents on a Summer Family Vacation

2. on my own when visiting friends who live in Prescott

3. on my own when in Tempe for a speaker's training progam
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks so much, Alan! I just try to show Nature in all her glory... as I see her! I appreciate that you took them time to look in!
