SO beautiful! I love horse....sculptures in motion!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Bonnie! I'm the same... they are so amazing!
Have you heard of the documentary "Harry & the Snowman"? You might enjoy that - can probably find it on Netflix or Hulu. Also the book "The Eighty Dollar Champion" - about the same horse. A truly wonderful story!

I guess they were fundamental in establishing the slightly less Wild West. You eye for detail has picked out key features.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I'd say so! Where would cowboys be without them?! smile
Thank you, Alan!

I did not know that they were so-called Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: The colonials in the 17th century began breeding Thoroughbreds with a variety of Native / Spanish / feral ponies. What they got were these smallish horses with incredible speed and agility. Very strong in the haunches as well as the chest. Easy to train, happy to please. The American Quarter Horse is now a recognized breed.

I think they are great horses, but I also think the West wouldn't be the same without a curly girl.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Ha! I am an advocate for my little part of the world!

A lovely selection of images, I really like the rope patterns.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you so much, Anne! I'm fascinated with the different types of halters, ropes and knots!
Good montage, Elizabeth. I like it.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Frank! I'm glad you do!
There's a lot of character bred into them by now!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They are pretty distinct at this point. So strong, so agile and fast!
