photoblog image Metallic Green Bee

Metallic Green Bee

First Place - Insects

I got brave and entered five photos into the

Coconino County Fair Photo Competition.

Of my five entries, I received two first

place ribbons, and two second place

ribbons for their categories.

I am particularly proud of this capture

because I had to follow him around the

garden for about 30 minutes with my

macro lens before getting this shot!

The animal and the image have something in common, Elizabeth...both are gorgeous!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you so much, Ray! These little guys are so pretty... and many people never "see" them because the are so, so tiny! They're passed off as little flies that people bat away...

You took them by storm!

This picture is a deserved case for the prizes. What I like most is the deep yellow petals, picked up by the pollen laden legs of the bee.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I am rather proud - I must say! smile Thank you so much for your very kind and thoughtful comment!
Well done Elizabeth, this would certainly be at the top for me however good the other entries were. I hope we're going to see all your award winners, that's one each fromn today to Thursday and a pixture of you with the ribbons on Friday.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks so much, Brian! And I was really looking forward to your opinion! Much appreciated! Actually, I do have the other three lined up! smile
How wonderful for you! This is amazing with the pollen pants the bee is wearing.
