Fun Mirror

Since March, the featured artist at  The Yorkshire Sculpture Park is Tony Cragg.

I'm afraid I don't have enough imagination to be a fan of most modern art.

A sculpture has to look like something I identify with (or can at least identify),

for me to enjoy it. Most of his pieces were variations on the same theme.

Lumps piled on top of each other - in almost the same form each time-

the only difference is that one would be made of wood, the next of glass,

or iron, or copper, or...  you get the drift.  Although we really enjoyed

the warpy reflections on this stainless steel piece!

Created your own modern art version of a Happy Couple! smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Unintentionally - but it was pretty fun! smile

I'm with you on modern art; I think that some modern artists just take the mickey. No doubt the critics are enraptured by it all., though. Stainless steel and warped mirrors can be a lot of fun, though, as seen here.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: You do have to wonder! At least we enjoyed this one!

Sorry - you two are often indivisible..
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile I consider that a compliment! smile
I like a hall of mirrorsgrin

I have the same problem with a lot of modern art. It is either clearly taking the mickey or seems pretentious beyond reason.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Me too! Especially with a camera handy!
Yeah - I don't get it, usually...

Le résultat est très drôle.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I thought so too, Martine!

What a fun!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It certainly was!
At least you had fun. I think turds might be the theme.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: We did for sure! Turds!!! HAHA!!! You're right!
I suspect your feelings about modern scuptures are much the same as my own Elizabeth. All the 'best people' rave over Henry Moore in this country but I've never been able to work it all out anymore than I can many of the so called works of art by Picasso!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Oh yes - but I must say, that at least Moore and Picasso have figures you can identify in their works... even a warpy human figure can e identified. But these lumps just baffle me!
I see three photographers... one must be an interloper. smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Hmmmmmm.... strange! smile
Ha, ha! Great selection, Elizabeth, I quite agree with you about the statues, but this one was fun!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Frank!
Mirror mirror on the wall ----
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Ha! Not looking very fair! smile
Definitely fun! I must get up there and take a look.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes - some interesting stuff!
