Boynton Canyon Trail

So come along on a little hike...

North of Sedona in the Red Rock / Secret

Mountain Wilderness.  We didn't go all the way

up Boynton Canyon, but just a little jaunt.  Lovely

wildflowers were showing themselves all along the trail...

amazing how the desert comes to life with just a little rain!

And there's this at the beginning of the trail...   "A Fed Bear is a Dead Bear"

There is real, rugged beauty to this signpost, Elizabeth.

I am happy to join you on the trail.

[I am beginning a journey today, also]
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: All of the trails in Sedona are marked by such signs - they're wonderful to come across!
I'll look in on your journey next... smile

Something I would love to see, having seen it on TV - a desert flowering after rain
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: It's really extraordinary. The Sonoran Desert being 2nd only to the Florida Everglades for diversity of wildlife in North America!

I hope you didn't meet any bears Ellie!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Just my husband! smile
Kinda like my "vicious seagulls" then, Elizabeth!!! If only humans had sense and sensibility!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: HAHA!! Yeah - just a little bigger... smile Humans are dumb...

Love the sign (top picture) and yes the warning. Bears look cuddly however they are not... never sharpened their nails.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks, Astrid! They are have attractive trail markers in Sedona!
smile I shared this with Ginnie, also...

I like the way the writing has been burnt onto this sign. That should preserve it very well.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Pretty good, eh?!

..so not a Fed bear as in FBI, then? wink I've seen bears but not when out hiking - luckily! The name of the canyon rang bells and having just Googled for the trail, I realise that I've hiked it, too. Mo idea where my images are, though, but I will enjoy yours, I'm sure. I'll just grab my boots and I'll come with you.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Could be... I know a few of them... smile
I've never encountered one in the wild, either... that I know of!
It is a lovely hike... Come along and reminisce!

Some sage advice - if a bear attacks, don't run, fight back. (Everything will end quicker).

Keep pets close and children on a leash. (Very experienced father [me] provided this advice).

When you see a bear ... pack out all trash (as if you will have time)

I like hikes with lots of wild flowers along the trail.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile You always make me laugh, Louis!!!

Yes... flowers are always a joy!
I will love seeing the wildflowers and of course, more red sandstone.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They are a joy! Can't remember if I'm showing much sandstone though... I hope so for your enjoyment! smile
i like this subject, Elizabeth, i wonder how it was manufactured - some kind of a gas cutter or a punching tool?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They are wonderful, Ayush - I imagine a gas cutter... I've seen a documentary on a local Sedona artist who creates things like this - and I've always assumed he was hired to make the signs.
I remember this, people looking for the vortex....Mmm
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I know, I know! smile
Too many people used to watch Yogi Bear.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yes... crazy...
I shared this with Ginnie and Astrid... you might find it funny, too:
