Sycamore Canyon

And the man that I adore

Sycamore Canyon is a short distance south west of Flagstaff.

It's eastern edge is the boundary of the Secret Mountain Wilderness

north of Sedona.  It is the second largest canyon (by area) in Arizona,

and difficult to reach... few roads (all dirt tracks and not well maintained)

lead to it.  But, if you'll tolerate the punishing drive, and if  your car will

hold together... the solitude (NO other people were there), peace and

beauty are well worth the effort!   We shall return, that's for sure!

There is nothing quite like visiting a place with no one else around. It has a different feel altogether

Sounds fabulous, especially the lack of others. I' not heard of it before so it lives up to its name. I would not fancy taking my own car there, though; I wince every time I jolt over the potholes on our paved roads (well, they were once paved...)

Although I do not adore him, I recognise him as someone very special.
Is there any state with such varied landscape? My visit was to all flat land with only a view of far away hills. Love this.
Arizona becomes even more interesting than I'd first thought with every new photo you post on SC.
