Halfway Down

Three wooden ladders assist in the climb down...

I can only guess that the Park Service has done this to

help curtail the number of lawsuits the litigious American

public might bring if someone dies falling off the cliffs...

Frank strolls along the river banks:

Voilà  la fameuse échelle.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Yep! One of three!

Another two very attractive images, Elizabeth, and once again my vote for favourite is the lower one...love that tall grass through which Frank is strolling.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks, Ray! I'm really glad you like the second image. I've been putting up secondary images often because I can't choose which I like better... perhaps I'll start consulting you first! smile
i would have claimed down that ladder now that i see it all Elizabeth... love the shot of Frank through the tall grass... and that is some pattern in the mountain... nature just flipped it on it's side....petersmile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: You could do it!
Thank you, Peter - it was such an amazing place, we enjoyed every second there!
I love the "weeping" effect (th varnish)...
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thanks, Larry! Me too!

It is difficult to take in all this superb stuff
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Even when you're there... smile

To be honest, it will be a small miracle if somebody hasn't already plunged to their doom hereabouts! The landscape looks like something from outer space
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: I might have to look that up... morbid curiosity! smile
Many sci-fi movies have been shot in Southern Utah!
What a fantastic rock formation ?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Outa this world!

I hope Frank is wearing long trousers tucked into his socks; you really would not want a snake sneaking up there! Can you do a loop om a trail or do you need to go back up the ladder?
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: smile It was a tad bit chilly yet for our little reptilian buddies... We didn't see any - and if we had, they'd have been awfully sloooooow! smile
The loop will follow the river to the other two bridges. You can choose to climb up at either of them. Each has ladders...
No way would Maureen or I be fit enough to use that ladder, in either direction, and I tend to agree with the first part of alan's comment as you can probably imagine.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: The ladders are great fun - but not for everyone!
It was a bit too cool for our legless buddies. We didn't see any, and if we had, they'd have been awfully sloooooow!!

Just incredible!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: They need to create some more superlatives for these places! We've run out!
Good shots of this place, Ell', you should have pointed out the level of the debris on the tree to my right showing the flood level, of course flash floods don't bother us! smile
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Thank you, Frank!
You know I didn't even think about that!
Or halfway up.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Well yes - it was both!

WOW!! What an amazing place! About to catch up on your archive, Elizabeth. I've been absent for a long time.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Truly, it is, Penny! Thank you for taking some time to do that - the series has been going on about a month now- and I'm sure everyone is sick to death of seeing sandstone - but I can't help myself. Every moment brought a new, amazing discovery! smile The weeks of April 12 & April 19 have some of my favorites - if you want to pare it down! Hope you've been well, Penny!
Photographer's heaven!
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: Even with terrible, grey, flat light- the beauty of these places show!
The colours above make this look like jewelry.
Elizabeth Croston Buckalew: What a wonderful way to put it, Mary! Thank you!
